Ban Trouble Owners and Even Fellow Board Members
This session will provide examples of when, if, where, and how boards may ban owners and even fellow board members from association common ground, amenities, access and events. Here are a few examples that may be discussed:
- Ban owners or board members for vexatious, defamatory, or false complaints
- Ban owners or board members who consistently violate the association’s rules and regulations
- Ban owners or board members who are delinquent in paying association fees or dues
- Ban owners or board members for harassment, bullying, or threatening behavior
- Ban owners or board members who misuse or damage common facilities, such as the pool, gym, or clubhouse
- Ban owners or board members who consistently disrupt association meetings or community events
- …and more
The panel will discuss temporary or permanent bans to ensure the safety and well-being of the community. The panel will discuss the procedures and legal considerations involved in implementing such bans.
In cases where a ban is not advisable, the panel will provide alternative solutions
These are just some examples that highlight the various situations where boards may need to take action to protect the interests and harmony of the community.
